FileNest

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 October 2026. Controller: FileNest, contact [email protected].

We build FileNest so ordinary PDF and image jobs do not require handing documents to a mystery converter. This policy explains what we store, for how long, and what rights you have under the GDPR and similar laws.

Files you process

Browser tools read the file in your browser. We receive a usage record (tool name, approximate size, time) so daily limits can be enforced. We do not receive the document bytes for those jobs.

Server tools receive the file long enough to process it and let you download the result. Temporary storage lasts about one hour by default, then the bytes are deleted. History may keep the file name, size, tool, and timestamp after the download link dies.

Accounts

If you create an account we store your name, email, and a password hash. Pro billing may store a Stripe customer id or a Bitcoin payment reference and transaction id you submit. We do not sell personal data and we do not run third-party advertising profiles.

Cookies and analytics

We use an essential cookie to remember guest limits. Optional first-party analytics events (page views, tool success, signup) are stored in our database so we can improve the product. They are not sold to ad networks. See the Cookie Policy for details.

Legal bases

We process data to perform the service you request (contract), to keep the service secure and fair (legitimate interests), and where required by law. You may request access, correction, deletion, or export of account data by emailing [email protected]. You may also complain to your local supervisory authority.

Retention

Temporary files: about one hour. Account records: until you delete the account or ask us to erase them, subject to legal bookkeeping for payments. Analytics events: typically 90 days unless aggregated.

Processors

We may use hosting providers, Stripe for cards, and an SMTP provider you configure for optional mail. File conversion does not use third-party conversion APIs.
